It’s been a really busy summer. I’ve been working intensely on the book and lyrics for The Third Act with composer Paul Fujimoto.
Here is a picture of Paul from this past Tuesday working with Tony Award winning actress Karen Ziemba before recording her vocals for the demo. Big thanks to Michael at The Smooth Spot for the image.
2011 began with a reading of The Distant Bells at The Roundabout Theater in NYC, starring Chita Rivera, Ana Gasteyer, Rachel York, Christopher Sieber, James Snyder, Jason Tam and Andy Mientus. (Check out the playbill.com article here. )
A short time later I partnered with director Sheryl Kaller (Next Fall, Tony Award nomination) to develop Sundogs. Sheryl and I conducted a developmental reading of the play in September 2011 with the help of actors Keith Powell, Mike Doyle, Michael Arden, Jenn Gambatese, and Peter Albrink. (Stay tuned for much more on Sundogs in 2012!)
Amidst all this, I completed two TV spec scripts and outlined three original TV pilots. As the year ends, I begin work on The Defiant Pyramids of Gaza, Illinois as well as another new original musical, The Third Act.

Rachel York joins the reading cast of The Distant Bells!
The 29-hour reading of The Distant Bells produced by the Roundabout Theatre Company will feature Chita Rivera, Ana Gasteyer, Emily Skinner, Christopher Sieber, James Snyder, Jason Tam and Andy Mientus.
The Distant Bells, a new original musical for which I wrote the book, will receive a 29-hour reading produced by the Roundabout Theatre Company in late March.
